Riverbend History

Riverbend was established in 1972 as a result of Edmonton City Council's implementation of the Riverbend-Terwillegar Heights District Outline Plan. In 1978, Riverbend was part of the portion of the outline plan area that was within Edmonton's city limits. In 1979, Edmonton City Council used the Riverbend Area Structure Plan to further develop the southern part of Riverbend. The Riverbend residential area comprises 9 neighborhoods: Brander Gardens, Rhatigan Ridge, Bulyea Heights, Ramsay Heights, Henderson Estates, Ogilvie Ridge, Carter Crest, Falconer Heights, and Brookside.

Riverbend Recreational Activities

Riverbend is a great place to enjoy the outdoors with a lot of parks and multi-use trails. One of the most popular parks is Terwillegar Park situated on the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River. It offers an off-leash dog area and numerous cycling and walking trails. Another notable park is Rainbow Valley Park, which is the largest in the area and hosts the Snowvalley Ski Club and Rainbow Valley Campground.
