Henderson Estates History
Henderson Estates takes its name from Thomas Henderson, a 19th century Riverbed area resident. He is known to have imported Italian honey bees to his farm, thereby creating the first honey bee colony in Edmonton. Henderson Estates ended up taking his name as his homestead was situated nearby. About 60% of residents in the area were built during the 1980s, while the rest were built during the 1990s. The neighbourhood is bounded on the south by Haddow neighbourhood, west by North Saskatchewan River Valley, east by Riverbend Road and north by Rabbit Hill Road.
