Hays Ridge takes its name from Dr. Helen Hays, a prominent physician who was a key figure in the advancement of Alberta's palliative care program. She is also a recipient of the Edmontonian of the Century award and the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal, among other awards. Hays Ridge was originally considered Heritage Valley Neighbourhood 11 within Heritage Valley Servicing Concept Design Brief (SCDB). The neighbourhood is bounded by Glenridding Ravine Community to the west, north by Ellerslie Road, east by 141 Street and south by 28 Avenue.
