Cashman History

Cashman is named after Tony Cashman, a celebrated and gifted historian, storyteller and playwright from Edmonton. Subdivision and development of the neighbourhood is guided by the Cashman Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan (NASP). The structure plan developed in 2003 indicates plans for future senior bungalow housing and a senior centre. The neighbourhood is bounded by Blackmud Creek neighbourhood to the west, north by Ellerslie Road, east by Calgary Trail and Gateway Boulevard, and the Cavanagh neighbourhood to the south and southeast.

Cashman Recreational Activities

Cashman is a place filled with many recreational amenities and opportunities. To the west of the neighbourhood, Blackmud Creek ravine is a family-friendly park that features nature trails that lead to the water, beautiful forest, and a wide variety of wildlife. Also nearby is Gateway Fitness Park, which features fitness equipment scattered around green spaces and walking paths. Within the neighbourhood, Tony Cashman Park is a green space ideal for picnics or leisure strolls. 

To the west of the neighbourhood, Blackmud Creek Playground is a great place frequented by many families. The playground features a gazebo, picnic tables, spinny seats and climbing equipment.
