Carter Crest History

Carter Crest takes its name from Robert I. Carter (1858–1931), a former Canadian government agent and landowner of what is now Terwillegar Park. He moved to Strathcona in 1910 and served in various positions including, the council for rural residents, president of the Conservation Association of Strathcona, and member of the Masonic Order until his return to the United States in 1923. The majority of Carter Crest residences were completed during the 1990s. The neighbourhood is bounded on the south by Leger neighbourhood, east and northeast by Rabbit Hill Road, and east and northeast by Terwillegar Drive.

Carter Crest has one park: Robert Carter Park. The park offers plenty of green space for relaxation, and the neighbourhood also features numerous pathways suitable for biking and walking. A few minutes to the east, Whitemud Creek features numerous nature trails. Hikers can explore various spots in the ravine such as Whitemud Creek Bridge, Whitemud Creek Stairs, Whitemud Creek Lookout and MacTaggart Sanctuary.
